Chakka Ada



Ingredients:

Raw rice-2½ cups
Water-1 ½cups
Salt-to taste
Jack fruit Jam 1/2 cup
Jaggery 150 gms
Coconut(grated)-1cup
Ghee-2tbsp
Cardamom powder-1tbsp
Banana leaves 12-15


Method:

Step 1. For the dough :

a) Soak rice in water for 6 hours.
b) Grind to a very fine paste with 1 cup water.
c) Add ½cup water and salt to the rice paste.
d) Heat the batter in a pan and stir till it becomes thick. Switch off the gas and cover the dough till it is warm and easy to handle.
e) kned well and make small balls.
f) Alternately you can make the dough with store brought rice powder. Boil 3 cups of water with a pinch of salt.
g) Add 2 cups of rice powder to it and stir till it is thick.
h) Repeat Process d) and e).

Step 2 : For the Filing :

a)Melt the jaggery with 2tbsp of water on low flame then strain it and keep aside.
b)Heat 2tbsp ghee in a pan add grated coconut and the melted and strained jaggery to it
c)When the water is fully absorbed from the mixture cardamom powder to it .
d)Cook 5 minutes and remove from fire.

Step 3 : Making Of Adas :

a) Grease a small piece of banana leaf with little Ghee and place one rice ball and spread out on the leaf with hand.
b) Spread the filling on one side of the spread dough and fold the leaf in half and press the side well.
c) Place the adas in a steamer and steam for 20-25 minutes.



Tips:
1. Wet ur hands in water for easily spreading the dough on banana leafs.
2. For making the dough more tastier mix some jaggery to the water (used for making the dough)
