Shrimp With Pearl Onion

The word shrimp comes from the Middle English shrimpe, meaning "pygmy" or a reference to the crustacean itself.It is common for Shrimp to be mistaken for Prawns. In some areas, jumbo shrimp are referred to as prawns, but the prawn is actually a completely different species in the lobster family.



Ingredients:

Shrimp 500gm ( cleaned and deveined)
Pearl onions 1 1/2 cup (washed and sliced)
3 to 4 green chillies
Curry leaves : a handful
Ginger : 2tbsp (sliced)
Garlic : 1tbsp (sliced)
Chilly powder : 1tbsp
Coriander powder : 1 tbsp\
Fennel seed powder : a pinch
Salt : as per taste
Oil : 2tbsp


Method :

1. Cook the shrimp with 1/2tsp oil, little salt and 1/4 tsp of chilly powder.
2. In a separate pan pour the remaining oil and when it is hot add the pearl onions, ginger, garlic, green chillies and curry leaves.
3. When the onions and gingergarlic mixture becomes light pink add the remaining chilly powder,coriander powder and fennel seeds powder . Fry till it leaves a very good aroma then add the cooked shrimp to it and mix it well.
4. Lower the flame and let the shrimp cook on low flame for some 15 more min or until u can see a nice coating of masala on the shrimp .
5. Shrimp with pearl onions is ready to be served.

Tips:
1. Don't fry the pearl onions till brown. Just fry till it changes its color to light pink . This will ensure that u don't burn the onions when u add the shrimp.
2. The dish will taste better if u make them in coconut oil.
